What is a Hacker?

A hacker is a skilled person where they use their abilities to gain unauthorised access usually to a system or a network to commit a cybercrime (Rouse, n.d.).

The above image (Bored Panda, 2018), is just a illustration but there are hackers out there that can hack anything.

Not only do hackers want to gain unauthorised access but they also have malicious intention to harm the person (Rouse, n.d.).

Like a virus, a hacker may attempt to steal someone’s personal information, damage their systems or even install a ransomware onto someone’s computer.

Hacking also seeks to compromise the individual’s personal devices such as their tablets, computers, smartphones and hackers might even disrupt the individual’s network as well (Malwarebytes, n.d.). There are hackers that may not have malicious intention. However, criminal cyber hackers are indeed motivated by information gathering, financial gain, protesting and even finding challenges to be “fun” to them (Malwarebytes, n.d.).
